What is IELTS?
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
IELTS is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), British Council and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment. It covers the four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.
IELTS is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognized by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.
IELTS is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16.
Types of IELTS:
- IELTS is available in two formats
- Academic and General Training
The Academic Reading and Writing tests assess whether a candidate is ready to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the results of these tests.
General Training is suitable for candidates who are going to English-speaking countries to complete their secondary education, to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level, or for immigration purposes to Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
IELTS scores You cannot fail the test. IELTS is designed to assess English language skills at all levels. You will receive IELTS scores based on each of the four skills on a scale of 1 – 9, and you will also be awarded an overall band score. You can score whole (e.g., 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half (e.g., 5.5., 6.5, 7.5) bands in each part of the test.
Your overall band score may be crucial if you intend to emigrate, apply for university or take up a job in an English-speaking country.
Documents needed for IELTS registration:
- IELTS online Application Summary printout
- Test fee in cash – NPR 16,950.00
- Two passport-sized colour photographs
- Two photocopies of your valid passport
RESULTS:
You must collect your Test Report Form (TRF) from our customer service counter. You can collect the result (TRF) 17 days after your written test. You can also see your result after 13 days on the official website and you will also get your results via SMS.
